I was raised into a family and taught at a very young age the gift of giving. The importance of giving without motive; without expecting or wishing to receive anything in return. To give with a genuine, compassionate & understanding heart. I was taught that if all you had to give was your time, that it could be enough to turn another’s world around, even if with just a smile!
And so I give. In one way or another I try to give something of myself to another each and every day! I practice gratitude and am incredibly aware of how fortunate I am in the grand scheme of things that I’m in a position where I can give back.
I have been volunteering in this community for as long as I have lived in Peterborough County. From the time I moved here on my own at 18 years old, I have always made a point to involve myself or offer help whenever I could.
I have since fallen in love with a few select organizations that I sit on boards for, volunteer a significant amount of my time and donate financially to. My clients form an integral piece of this puzzle as each time I sell a property I am able to set aside a specific percentage of my earnings to contribute towards our fundraising efforts for these not for profit organizations.
I have developed treasured friendships and connected with like-minded people over the years and couldn’t imagine feeling prouder of my tribe! I have had the most incredible coaches and mentors one could ever hope for! One of my most favourite lessons from a dear friend and colleague is a saying that has stuck with me throughout my 11 years in real estate and I’m certain I will carry it with me forever.
“At the end of the day, we’re only here to help each other” she says – Now how true is that?
If we’re not helping others pursue their dreams or work through tough times how do we ever expect to come together? How do we ever expect to grow?
The pure joy that I have felt and the benefits received from giving back, especially to my community, has far surpassed anything I could imagine I would ever receive!
